Terms of Business
A Doodle Whiteboard animation is a bespoke whiteboard animation video, created by professional scriptwriters, cartoonists and video editors.
Doodle Whiteboard agrees to create a custom cartoon video for the client on placement of an order and accompanied by a 50% non-refundable deposit, paid within 7 days.
We aim to deliver videos within 3 weeks from signed off script, or 2 weeks from signed off storyboard, however this is subject to the length of video and our drawing schedule at the time.
Final video files are released along with the balance invoice which must be paid within 7 days.
Estimates for work are valid for 90 days. If the time between receiving an estimate and commissioning the work (paying the deposit/fee) is over 60 days the original estimate must be re-confirmed or a new one provided. Doodle Whiteboard reserves the right to revise the price if more than 60 days has elapsed since the original estimate.
Script: We write your script based upon an initial phone interview with you. A draft script is then delivered for your feedback. Our scriptwriter updates the script with any changes you have requested and resubmits it. We allow one further set of changes at this point but any subsequent alterations will incur an additional fee of £15 per frame.
Our standard scripts consist of one paragraph of text per frame of drawing. Paragraphs must be no more than 25 words which equates to 10 seconds of voice over. If additional paragraphs and frames are needed, supplementary charges will apply. See our prices page here.
Number of frames and paragraphs per video are :
60 seconds = 6 frames
90 seconds = 9 frames
120 seconds = 12 frames
Please note timings are approximate. The fixed element is the number of drawings.
Schedule of Services: The normal commission includes:
Script interview
Script writing
Visualisation Call
Storyboard
Video-ready artwork
Voiceover recording
Video editing
Video delivery
The price does not include embedding videos into a client’s website.
Storyboard: We will provide you with a Powerpoint Storyboard for your comments and feedback. You will then have one round of revisions. We will then provide the revised storyboard for final review. Further ‘tweaks’ may then be made but please be aware more significant changes may be chargeable.
Voiceover: A professional voice over artist will create an audio file for the video. Fees apply. The client is at liberty to supply their own voice over audios.
Re-draws/Author’s Corrections: The client is at liberty to commission changes to their video, but these will incur supplementary charges. Customers must be 100% happy with their storyboard before proceeding to the draft video stage as author’s corrections at the video editing stage can be costly and time consuming.
Usage Rights: Doodle Whiteboard retains copyright to all images and videos in perpetuity. Once full and final payment has been successfully processed, the client will inherit usage rights to the video file only. The client does not acquire copyright to the video nor any of the characters/assets contained within or used to create the video file. The client does not automatically acquire any resale rights. The client may not, without written permission, edit the video, resell the video or grant use of the video file or a derived version of the video to a third party. Rebranding the video must only be undertaken by Doodle Whiteboard.
Copyright to videos can be purchased by special agreement.
For clarity on copyright, the following is taken from the video specific page of the UK Copyright Service website:
The copyright owner of a video has the right to control who can do any of the following acts:
copy the work
rent, lend or otherwise issue copies to the public
perform the work in public
adapt the work
These are referred to as ‘restricted acts’.
Carrying out any of these acts requires the permission of the copyright owner.
Copyright Infringement
As copyright owner Doodle Whiteboard has the exclusive right to take action if someone infringes copyright by carrying out any of the restricted acts without permission. Doodle Whiteboard will request infringing copies be removed, unpaid fees to be paid in full and recover financial damages to cover any loss of income that occurred as a result of the infringement.
Marketing: Doodle Whiteboard may display the client videos on this website, on our SVGDoodleWhiteboard image library website, on our Vimeo channel, on our YouTube channel and in our marketing and social media pages for promotional purposes unless specifically requested not to do so by the client.
Images: All images are copyright Piers Baker.
Doodle Whiteboard reserves the right to sell the use of images and derivatives of images used in customer videos in its library website svgdoodlewhiteboard.com
Customers may request a licence to use the images used in their video file, but supplementary licence fees may apply.
When clients commission further work, characters used in previous videos can be requested.
The client can at any time purchase additional resell rights by negotiation.
Doodle Whiteboard retains full rights to reuse any of the assets used in the creation of the video.
Cancellation/Restart
Videos can be cancelled or restarted at any stage of the process. However fees will apply depending at what stage the work is changed. If the work is cancelled/restarted after the script or voiceover stage the deposit fee usually covers the cost. However if it’s cancelled/restarted after the drawn storyboard stage the fee needs to be 80%. 100% is payable if cancelled/restarted after the video editing stage as the job is complete at this point. Remember deposits are non-refundable and drawn frames will be charged at 80% of the frame rate quoted.
Supplementary Charges:
